The topic of decision making is addressed in two distinct literatures. The first looks at rational and quantitative means of making decisions. This includes the use of decision trees and the assignment of probabilities and expected outcomes. The second looks at the subjective side of decision making. It asserts that both individuals and groups are subject to predictable biases that cause them to make less than optimal choices. Students in this course will examine both sides of the topic.
