EDU 525: Supervision of Student Conduct

Estimated Hours Per Week: 15

Overview

Promoting and managing student conduct is both supervisory and instructional. From a supervisory point of view, the school administrator is charged with developing and maintaining a set of standards of conduct for students that ensure that proper school behavior is exhibited. From an instructional point of view, the school administrator is charged with educating students on the proper behaviors for maintaining self-discipline, and compliance with rules of conduct and good order. Thus, the course serves two purposes.

This course will prepare a school principal or building-level supervisor for establishing and maintaining a program of student conduct in a K-12 educational institution. This course is conducted as a practicum, in that it provides the student with practical, hands-on experiences in developing a student conduct program for a school. The course covers established principles and practices of K-12 student conduct supervision.
