BBA 311: Using the Internet in Business

Overview

This course will introduce the managerial skills neccessary to use the Internet effectively for business. The course will explore the various ways in which the Internet has created challenges and opportunities for businesses and how to deal with them. Effective Internet businesses need to balance the technological aspects with those of running an effective business. The course project will focus these skills understanding the business side of eCommerce.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Understand that eCommerce is much more than just Internet technology and presents a new set of challenges and opportunities.
  • Understand how the internet puts the customer in control and how to deal with a virtual marketplace around the globe.
  • Develop effective strategies for attracting customers and maintaining customer loyalty.
  • Understand the differences between customer driven marketing (B2C) and business driven marketing (B2B).
  • Understand how to effectively manage an Internet based business.
  • Identify and evaluate competitors in Internet commerce.
