BA 713: Leadership and Organizations

Estimated Hours Per Week: 20

Overview

This course is designed to give the doctoral student a comprehensive understanding of historical, current, and emerging perspectives of organizational leadership theory and practice. The past and present state of leadership will be examined in order to consider and shape the future of leadership. Students will explore the nature of the leadership role in contemporary organizations, and determine the responsibilities and benefits of leadership in the broad social arena. The course approach will combine reading the seminal works (or recent summaries or synthesis) along with individual in-depth research by the students to explore their specific field of interest in organizational leadership.

The course will include a variety of assessments, discussions, written evaluations, and exercises. Each deliverable will require research, and information and knowledge sharing within the cohort. Throughout the eight modules, a strong focus on self-reflection and conceptualization will be encouraged.
